Indoor Action throughout the State
Madison, WI (4/5/07) -- Indoor competition has heated up throughout the state the last few weeks.
Watertown junior Andrew Perkins ran a 4:14.03 1600 meters in Oshkosh this week to take the yearly honor roll lead. Perkins also leads the 800 meters, but his 400 meter lead was lost to Cory Yttre, Brookfield East senior, who ran 50.64 at the Madison West relays. Menomonee Falls senior Luke Bibis leads the undercover hurdles at 7.64 which he ran this weekend at the Madison West Relays. Monroe ran a very fast 3200 meter relay time at the West Relays with their 7:56.76 to with the small school division. Richland Center junior Paul Annear continues to lead the high jump with his 6-10½ jump but another junior jumped 6-7 this week in Oshkosh (Brad Parent - Green Bay Preble) to take 2nd on the honor roll. West Allis Central junior Marcus Smith triple jumped 48-0½ at the Greater Metro Conference meet. This is the 8th best jump ever.
For the girls Greenfield junior Julie Hebert has had a great indoor campaign as she leads the 55 meter dash at 7.20 and the triple jump with a top-10 all-time mark of 38-8. Super star Kaya Senaya (Brown Deer junior) leads the 200 at 25.95. In the 1600 meters two girls are close the 5 minute mark with Belleville-New Glarus junior Ashley Beutler at 5:07.94 and Onalaska soph Jami Hill at 5:07.99. Megan Plourde, Somerset junior leads the high jump at 5-8. |
