The 2007 season should be an exciting one for the girls as several legendary all-time marks are in jeopardy.
Suzy Favor-Hamilton's 800 meter record set in 1985 will be challenged by Wausau East senior Jamie Dittmar. Dittmar ran 2:11.35 in 2006 which is the 5th fastest ever.
Two time WIAA state D2 record setter Kaya Senaya has the top returning time/mark in three events (100, 200 and long jump). Senaya went on a tear in the national summer meets recording the second fastest time ever in both the 100 (11.86) and 200 (24.31) meter dashes. Kaya is only a junior this season.

Racine Case senior Akaila Cabell is the top returning 400 meter runner and near the top of the 100 and 200 as well.
The best returning high jumpers are senior's Michelle Mitchell (Wisconsin Lutheran) and Chelsea VonRuden (Sparta).
The top two hurdlers of 2006 return. Defending D1 300 low hurdles champ, Hudson senior Sharyn Dahl ran the 5th best all time 44.26 in 2006. Watertown junior Lindsay Schwartz is back to defend her D1 100 high hurdles crown.
Two top girls relays from 2006 return all or most of their squads. Milwaukee King set the state record in La Crosse in the 4 x 200 meter relay. The whole team returns as three of girls are sophomores - Ashante Benson, Charde Mayne, Kennaye Lewis, and Alexandria Morton is a senior. Waukesha West returns three girls from their D1 state champ and 7th best all-time 4 x 400 meter squad. Returning are seniors Erin Dian and Laura Koch and junior Stephanie Grant.

Only a junior, but already a veteran in Wisconsin prep competion, Watertown's distance star Andrew Perkins leads the returning 800, 1600 and 3200 meter runners.

Many top sprinters will return to action this season. Quentin Luttrell (Milwaukee Marshall senior) had the top 100 meter dash time in 06. Multisport star Jimmy Thompson (Hayward senior) had the fastest 200 meter time. Thompson was upset at state by Brown Deer junior Justin Austin in both dashes.
After Perkins there are a slew of top returning distance runners. Greendale senior Phil Thomas, 2006 D1 cross country champ Pulaski senior Matt Mroczynski, and Janesville Craig senior Josh Lund are just a few who will be back.

The top returning high jumpers are Richland Center junior Paul Annear and Waunakee senior Ryan Marschall.
In the shot put Slinger senior Ed Wesela threw beyond 60 feet in 2006 and Madison Memorial senior Jay Hancock was past 180 feet in the discus.
Top long and triple jumper, Victor Reynolds, who competed as a junior last season for Oak Creek, has transferred to Arlington (Texas) Grace Prep after being declared ineligible by the WIAA.
